What is a Rashguard?

A rashguard is an athletic shirt, typically long-sleeve, that is made from a polyester, nylon, or spandex blend and is intended to be worn in the water and provide sun protection beyond layering on sunscreen that is just going to wash off. It’s a common type of apparel used in scuba diving, surfing, swimming, paddle boarding, and other water activities to protect the body from jellyfish or other irritants in the water, harmful sun rays, and chafing that can lead to a rash. 

Rashguards vs. Dive Skin

Rashguards and Dive Skins are terms often used interchangeably. While dive skins are traditionally one solid piece like a lightweight wet suit, rashguards protect only the top portion of the body.
